Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it in the open and say what changed. This page explains how to tell us and what happens next.
Reporting an error
Email corrections@scrollinsights.com with the article's link and what you believe is wrong. If you can point to a source, that speeds things up considerably. You do not need to be the subject of the article to report an error.
We aim to acknowledge within two business days and to resolve within five. Complex factual disputes take longer; we will say so rather than go quiet.
What we do about it
- Correction — a factual error. We fix the text and add a dated note at the foot of the article saying what was wrong and what it now says. We do not quietly edit a published fact.
- Update — the article was accurate but events moved. We add the new information with its own timestamp. The original text stays.
- Clarification — nothing was factually wrong, but the wording invited a reasonable misreading. We rewrite for clarity and note that we did.
- Retraction — the piece was substantially wrong or should not have run. We say so plainly at the article's URL and explain why. We do not delete the page and pretend it never existed.
Typos
Spelling, grammar and broken links are fixed without a note. Anything that changes the meaning of a sentence is a correction, not a typo.
Why the timestamps matter
Every article records when it was published and when it was last changed, and both are exposed in the page's structured data. A correction moves the modification date. That is how you can tell whether the version you are reading is the one that was originally published.
AI-assisted articles
Corrections work identically whether or not an article was AI-assisted, and the same named editor is accountable either way. See how we use AI. If an error originated in an automated step, we treat that as a defect in our pipeline and fix the pipeline, not just the article.
Right of reply
If you are named in an article and dispute how you are characterised, tell us. We will consider a correction on the merits, and where we stand by the reporting we will still publish your response alongside it if you want us to.
