How we use AI

ScrollInsights uses AI assistance in producing some of its journalism. Every article that does carries a visible notice at the top. This page explains what that means.

What AI does

• Triages incoming sources and clusters reports of the same event.
• Drafts summaries and first drafts from facts already gathered.
• Suggests headlines and extracts structured data such as dates and version numbers.

What AI never does

• Appear as an author. Every byline is a real, named person. We do not publish under invented identities.
• Produce quotations. Nothing attributed to a named source is generated. Quotes come from primary material and are checked against it.
• Publish anything. No article reaches this site without a named editor.

Human accountability

A named editor reviews and signs off every published article, and that is enforced by our database rather than by policy: a record cannot enter the published state without an identified editor and a review timestamp attached. This satisfies the editorial- responsibility condition in Article 50(4) of the EU AI Act.

Corrections

Errors are corrected in place with a note recording what changed and when. Write tocorrections@scrollinsights.com.
